Why This Trip Is Unmissable
- Chopta:
Chopta is a hidden jewel located in the Rudraprayag district of Uttarakhand. This hamlet sits at an altitude of approximately 2,608 meters and is dotted with pine, deodar, and rhododendron forests. This town is affectionately called the “Mini Switzerland” for its lush meadows and surrounding Himalayan peaks. It is a nature lover’s paradise and a trekker’s dream. It is also a part of the Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, making it an ideal destination for birdwatching with over 240 bird species. At sunrise, the sky blazes in hues of orange and gold, illuminating the peaks of Trishul, Nanda Devi, and Chaukhamba, leaving travelers in awe of nature’s splendor. The peaceful ambience, uninterrupted Himalayan vistas and abundant wildlife make Chopta an ideal spot to connect with nature and enjoy a digital detox.
- Tungnath Temple:
Tungnath, the highest Lord Shiva temple in the world at 3,680 meters, lies just a few kilometers away from Chopta and is an essential part of this tour. The trek to Tungnath is moderately easy and offers scenic views throughout, ideal for beginners and experienced hikers alike. It is a spiritual spot and a deeply meditative experience. This ancient temple, believed to be over 1,000 years old is one of the Panch Kedar and attracts pilgrims and trekkers from across the world. At Traveloi, we believe this trek is the soul of the Chopta experience, blending divinity with Himalayan adventure.
- Chandrashila:
Just 1.5 km ahead of Tungnath lies Chandrashila peak, meaning “Moon Rock” in Sanskrit. Standing tall at 4,000 m above sea level, this is a popular destination to enjoy 360-degree panoramic views of the Himalayas. The trek from Tungnath to Chandrashila is steep but extremely rewarding. According to legends, Lord Rama meditated here after defeating Ravana, while another states that the moon god Chandra spent time here in penance. On a clear day, Chandrashila provides panoramic views of famous Himalayan peaks like Nanda Devi, Chaukhamba, Kedarnath dome, and Trisul. We make sure you reach here in time to witness the celestial drama unfold, something that stays etched in your memories forever.
- Auli:
Perched at an altitude of 2,500-3,050m is Uttarakhand’s premier skiing destination, surrounded by dense coniferous and oak forests. This hill station is located in Chamoli district and is one of the major destinations for winter sports. The snow-covered slopes stretching under the watchful gaze of mighty Nanda Devi and Mana Parbat peaks offer an exhilarating setting for skiing enthusiasts and mountain lovers alike. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned skier, Auli’s gentle slopes and awe-inspiring views make every moment memorable. During winters, the landscape transforms into a magical white carpet, while in summers, it offers scenic greenery and tranquil Himalayan views. The ride on the famous Auli ropeway, the second longest in India, is a must-experience thrill, giving you a bird’s-eye view of the valley below.
- Joshimath:
Located between Auli and Badrinath, Joshimath is a quaint town with a rich religious and cultural heritage. It is the winter season of Lord Badrinath and a significant hub for trekkers and pilgrims heading deeper into the Himalayas. From the Narasimha temple to the Shankaracharya math, the town offers a quick but spiritual day tour. Our Auli package ensures that this historical town is not just a stopover but a beautiful and enriching part of your journey. This itinerary serves as a glimpse into the highlights of the Auli Chopta journey before we actually go on this experience. Tighten your hiking boots and open your heart for the magic of the mountains.
- Rishikesh:
Before you ascend into the Himalayas, your journey begins in the spiritual town of Rishikesh, set along the banks of the holy Ganga. Known globally as the Yoga Capital of the World, Rishikesh blends peace, adventure, and cultural richness in one spot. Whether you choose to attend a serene Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat, cross the iconic Laxman Jhula, or dive into the thrill of white-water rafting, the city offers a soul-stirring start to your mountain adventure.
