Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna, is one of the Sapta Puri, the seven sacred cities in Hinduism. The city possesses the gravity of divine history from the prison cell where Krishna was born to the colorful temples where his life is celebrated. The energy is palpable here in the evening aartis of Vishram Ghat, where the Yamuna River is reflecting the flames of devotion, and air is full of devotional chants. The Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple complex, Dwarkadhish Temple and Keshav Dev Temple are at the forefront to any spiritual journey of the city.
Vrindavan, a little distance away, was where Krishna spent his childhood. The town is a canvas of devotion that is painted with thousands of temples, ashrams and holy groves. Every corner has a story to tell of Krishna’s mischievous activities, his flute tunes and his godly love for Radha. The Banke Bihari Temple, ISKCON Temple, Prem Mandir and Radha Raman Temple are some of the most revered places. The spiritual atmosphere in Vrindavan is gentle yet powerful, and it invites visitors to slow down, reflect, and connect with the divine.
This Mathura Vrindavan Travel Package is a balance of temple visits and cultural experiences that make one’s Krishna legacy come alive. The aarti in the evening at Banke Bihari Temple is a soul-stirring experience of hundreds of devotees gathering in devotion that rises in unison. The Yamuna aarti provides a tranquil moment of thought as lamps are floated on the river bearing prayers into the night. The colorful streets of Vrindavan are loaded with flower vendors, sweet shops serving traditional pedas, and sadhus whose presence imbues the town with a spiritual charm.
The Mathura Vrindavan Pilgrimage Tour also gives insights into the rich artistic tradition of the region. Braj Bhumi, the name given to the region as a whole, had been the birthplace of classical music, dance and poetry dedicated to Krishna. The local culture is infused with a strong devotional element and visitors can easily get immersed in bhajans (devotional songs) and kathak (classical dance) representations, which tell tales about Krishna.
