Overview
Nepal’s spiritual landscape is mapped through a carefully planned pilgrimage combining domestic flights and cultural immersion in seven days. This 7 Days Muktinath & Pashupatinath by Flight Tour Package offers a glimpse of two of the most sacred places in Hindu tradition, while providing a look into the varied geography and heritage of the Himalayan nation.
The journey starts in Kathmandu Valley with a visit to Swayambhunath, the ancient stupa on top of a hill overlooking the capital. Known locally as the Monkey Temple, the Buddhist shrine is indicative of Nepal’s religious harmony, where the Hindu and Buddhist religions co-exist in a natural setting.
Day two brings the ease of domestic air travel with a morning flight to Pokhara. The lakeside city opens up its attractions with guided tours of Devi’s Fall, a unique waterfall that vanishes underground, and Gupteshwar Cave with limestone formations. There is the International Mountain Museum listing the history of Himalayan exploration, and the Bindhyabasini Temple catering to local devotees from its hilltop location. The Seti Gorge is a great example of the power of glacial rivers as it cuts its way through the center of the city, and evening hours are a time to explore Lakeside market’s cafes and shops. World Peace Pagoda hiking gives panoramic views across Phewa Lake to the Annapurna range.
The third day offers a spiritual highlight, a scenic flight to Jomsom a small airstrip town within the region of Mustang. From here, vehicles on four-wheel drives move along the bumpy dirt road towards Muktinath Temple. This sacred place has a special significance for both Hindus as well as to the Buddhists, as it is situated at a high altitude, where devotees take a ritual bath under water flowing from the stone sprouts. The temple complex has two holy ponds, and the belief continues that if one bathes here, he or she washes away sins and suffering. The difficult terrain means that visitors have to walk the final stretch of road after crossing the Kali Gandaki River on a narrow bridge where vehicles are unable to make it through.
Chandragiri hills provides different experience on day four after returning to Kathmandu via Pokhara. Cable car access leads to Bhaleshwor Mahadev Temple which is believed to mark the spot where Sati Devi’s forehead fell during Shiva’s grief-stricken wanderings. The hilltop resort offers great valley views and a tranquil night’s stay.
Janakpur takes day five by its relation to Ramayana. A morning flight takes the pilgrims to this historic city, where Sita Mata Mandir marks her birthplace. Ram Janki Temples narrate the divine wedding, and Hanuman Kund is used as a sacred place for bathing for devotees.
The sixth day focuses on the spiritual and cultural riches of Kathmandu. VIP darshan at Pashupatinath Temple leads to Nepal’s most revered Shiva shrine, which hosts cremation ghats along the Bagmati River to demonstrate the Hindu rituals of death. Jal Narayan Temple has a huge statue of reclining Vishnu, which appears to float on water. Guhyeshwari Temple is the Shakti of the Pashupatinath and Doleshwor Mahadeva has an intriguing belief of being the head portion of Kedarnath. Kathmandu Durbar Square has Malla-era architecture and the medieval city planning is retained in the heritage zones of Bhaktapur.
The package includes accommodation in quality hotels, all domestic flights between destinations, guided tours, and necessary permits, including ACAP certification for Jomsom access. Meals are on a Modified American Plan with breakfast and dinner served continuously.
